  Household hazardous waste

Through our work in the field, we have a wealth of expertise in the management of household hazardous waste (HHW).

We manage the National Household Hazardous Waste Forum (NHHWF), which represents the interests of the many UK organisations involved in HHW. The NHHWF liaises with government on policy and legislative issues, runs seminars and workshops, publishes research and disseminates information to members about legislation and developments in the field of HHW.

Our knowledge and expertise is further enhanced as we run Community RePaint , a network of paint reuse projects, which provide a sustainable solution to the problem of unwanted paint.

Why understanding about HHW is important to you

  • keep up-to-date with the latest government policy and legislation
  • remain aware of current useful disposal technology
  • ensure your HHW is managed in the most effective manner
  • be aware of the implications of any impending legislation so that you can plan in good time and avoid costly, last minute, service changes

How we can help you with HHW

  • production of research reports for example on the storage and disposal of pesticides by householders
  • keep abreast of post-consumer battery issues and help you plan for any service changes
  • run training sessions for your staff and provide up-to-date information
  • help with communication campaigns to consumers
