The National Household Hazardous Waste Forum

The National Household Hazardous Waste Forum (NHHWF) is the UK's leading forum on household hazardous waste. Managed by Resource Futures the forum was first established in 1993.

It is a membership organisation which represents the interests of the many UK bodies involved in household hazardous waste (HHW) and aims to seek practical solutions to the problems associated with the management of HHW.

The NHHWF liaises with government on policy and legislative issues and undertakes research into the minimisation and management of HHW: projects have included a review of silver oxide button cell recycling and a survey of householders’ storage of banned pesticides. The NHHWF disseminates information to members about legislation and other developments in the field of HHW through a monthly e-zine and the website.

Resource Futures organises the three NHHWF seminars each year, runs the website, writes and distributes the monthly HazCare News e-zine and undertakes various other projects, such as producing guidance documents on best practice in HHW management.
