Carla joined Resource Futures as a Junior Consultant in 2018 with significant research and data analysis skills. Holding a BSc in Environmental Science from the University of Maryland, and an MSc. in Environmental Management from the University of Bristol, she specialises in both qualitative and quantitative data analysis and research. Carla is experienced in transforming complex data and trends into clear and digestible information. Prior to joining Resource Futures, Carla was involved in several high-level academic research projects, working with research teams from the U.S. Department of State, U.S. Agency for International Development and the International Emissions Trading Association. Having worked internationally in the USA, France, Spain, and Burkina Faso, with significant research experience in Central and Western Africa, Carla is experienced in multiple stakeholder engagement.

Since joining Resource Futures, Carla has enjoyed expanding her knowledge about the waste and resources industry and is using her prior experience and rigour to support projects in the insight area of the business, particularly in circular economy, resource efficiency, and policy analysis.

Expertise

Carla has worked on many of the global, policy, private sector and plastics-focussed projects at Resource Futures. Carla is familiar and experienced in stakeholder engagement and qualitative data analysis; her role in projects is often centred on liaising with project partners and clients, both nationally and internationally. She has recently worked on projects for clients such as the World Bank, Defra, WRAP, Zero Waste Scotland, Tearfund, and the International Solid Waste Association, as well as on private sector and local authority projects, providing strategic data analysis and research support. Carla’s research work is focused mainly on plastics policy and legislation and institutional challenges related to solid waste management. Her expertise includes:
