Profile

Laura is an expert in local authority waste services, having worked in waste management for almost 20 years. Laura’s consultancy experience includes providing advice and support to waste collection, disposal and unitary authorities through identifying, scoping and developing modelled solutions for a wide range of waste management challenges.

For a Council in south-east England, Laura recently helped develop a roadmap which set out how the authority could reach an ambitious 70 per cent recycling rate by 2030. This included evaluating the impact of legislative and policy drivers, identifying and evaluating a wide range of waste improvement activities, setting out the impacts on the Council from a range of different service delivery mechanisms and procurement options, providing a separate roadmap for a new waste strategy, and facilitating a series of workshops for Council Officers and Elected Members.

Laura is currently supporting Rutland County Council by developing and re-writing their waste management and streetscene strategy and delivering the public consultation to follow this, as well as evaluating a range of options to expand and/or redevelop the Council’s Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC) network and waste infrastructure. Laura is also assisting Rutland with the re-procurement of their Environmental Services contracts.

Laura is an experienced PRINCE2 project manager. She is adept at project planning, writing business cases, implementation/mobilisation plans and waste strategies, as well as developing service specifications and providing technical support for procurement exercises, to best support local authorities in developing their waste service.
