Matt is a Principal Consultant within Resource Futures Circular Economy team and has thirty years’ experience in bridging creative industries, engineering and environmental sciences. He is a former Industrial Designer within the telecommunications R&D sector. As lead Circular Economy (CE) Researcher he represented British Telecommunications plc Technology Service & Operations as a founding partner of the Ellen MacArthur Foundation (2010-2015). He acted as Circular R&D lead on BT retail products’ ~£750m portfolio and sustainability ITT specifications’ lead for BT suppliers, including Materials’ Prototype development and testing. Matt has a broad interest and experience from sustainable transport engineering, ergonomics and optimum mental performance, to user interface design, gamification and data visualisation. He is a Fellow of Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce.


Prior to joining Resource Futures in 2020, Matt was employed by the British Antarctic Survey for over three years as their Innovation Manager for the launch of its Natural Environment Research Council’s £5m Aurora Innovation Centre, nurturing cross-science breakthrough and new collaborations, identifying IP potential. In 2015 Matt was asked by CIWM to feature in its regular ‘strategy’ feature, which highlights personal journeys to implementing innovation within the resource recovery markets.
