As the awards season kicks off, the Resource Futures team has three achievements to celebrate. Both Gwen Frost and Sam Reeve have been recognised in this year’s Resource Hot 100, with Sam also being inducted into the prestigious Environment 100.

The Resource Hot 100 recognises individual excellence in the waste and resources sector, based on an open vote across the industry – this year, over 17,500 verified votes were cast. Our CEO Sam Reeve re-entered the list at #39, while our director Gwen Frost was ranked at #83.

The Environment 100 celebrates trailblazers, innovators, and visionaries driving sustainability forward in the UK. Sam was honoured as an ‘inspiring green leader’ for his work in fostering collaborative partnerships to create positive environmental change and reduce the impact of consumption and production.

Sam’s achievements include leading Resource Futures through its B Corp certification journey and guiding the organisation through several major public-sector projects over the last decade, such as:

  • Developing toolkits for the environmentally sound management of plastic waste in developing countries for the BRS Secretariat.
  • Working with the Welsh Senedd and an industry-wide group to explore how a digital Deposit Return Scheme (DRS) could complement traditional DRS, lower costs, and enhance environmental benefits.
  • Designing and delivering a nationwide waste composition data project for the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, helping shape Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) household packaging fees.

Both the Resource Hot 100 and Environment 100 offer well-deserved recognition for Gwen and Sam, highlighting not only their personal achievements but also their significant contributions to the wider industry.
