Brendan Cooper

Brendan joined Resource Futures in 2021 and brings over seven years of project coordination and logistics with him. Brendan initially worked within the Evidence work stream at Resource Futures, gathering primary data on a range of waste streams for public, private and third sector organisations which have helped provide the evidence to support the development of new waste plans and policies for many local authorities across the UK.

Brendan is now a Consultant working within the UK Policy and Global Policy Teams. Since studying Marine Biology and Coastal Ecology at Plymouth University where he focused his studies on marine plastic pollution and aquaculture, Brendan continues to have a strong interest in marine litter and developing preventative strategies.

Prior to Resource Futures, Brendan worked in project management in the visual arts industry and environmental consultancy in Western Australia and the UK.

Brendan has over seven years’ experience in coordinating large scale projects, recruiting staff to work on a range of environmental projects and gathering and analysing primary data. Originally based in the Evidence team, managing a pool of over 40 causal staff, recruiting new staff and working to ensure the smooth delivery of waste stream data collection projects, Brendan now works as a Consultant splitting his time and expertise across the UK Policy and Global Policy work streams.

Before starting at Resource Futures, Brendan worked in project coordination and logistics, setting up international exhibitions and gained experience delivering large scale projects to tight timeframes, developing strategies to work across international markets and time zones.

More recently Brendan worked in ecological consultancy, collecting qualitative and quantitative data, and producing GIS maps which helped in the development of integrated management plans for public sector organizations to protect heritage sites and biodiversity. Brendan has experience in environmental auditing and worked in remote parts of Western Australia collecting primary data from oil and gas processing sites on their impact on the surrounding environment.

Brendan has strong experience in desk-based research, gathering primary data out in the field, stakeholder engagement and mapping data in GIS programmes as well as report writing and presenting results.
