Profile
An expert in environmental sociology and technology and how they interact with policy and regulation, Violet joined Resource Futures as a Senior Consultant in the policy team after working and studying in Bristol, Leeds, Beijing, London and – most recently – Wageningen in the Netherlands, where she completed a PhD in environmental sociology and law.
Violet’s PhD focused on systems thinking for sustainability, specifically how policy instruments can drive transformative responses from regulated actors. This included a study into how plastics producers respond to the EU’s single-use plastics directive and related EU legislation such as the waste framework directive and packaging and packaging waste directive.
Violet’s academic background also includes a BA in Chinese and History and an MSc in Environmental Technology where she first developed an interest in circular economy concepts and their application.
