In November 2024 Resource Futures took over management of the award winning Recofloor project and added it to our portfolio of community projects tackling waste issues.
Recofloor is a collection and recycling service for commercial waste vinyl flooring across the UK. Founded by flooring manufacturers Altro and Polyflor in 2009, Recofloor provides an eco-friendly and cost-effective alternative to traditional waste disposal routes, helping the flooring industry and its partners become more sustainable.
This is a unique example of two major competitors working collaboratively for the wider good. For both companies, the ongoing commitment to the scheme is part of a wider push to make vinyl flooring a responsible flooring choice across the three pillars of sustainability: environmental, social, and economic.

The schemeās main aim is to offer a service to distributors, contractors and fitters, but also works with construction companies, training schools and other sectors to help reduce their environmental impact. By reclaiming commercial vinyl flooring and making it easy for collectors to participate, Recofloor plays an important role in supporting industry partners to work more sustainably.
Making an impact
- In 2024 Recofloor won a Green Apple award and the Better Society award.
