Tom is the CIO and Co-Founder of Dsposal. Tom is a highly skilled and experienced waste data professional adept at using technology, data and systems thinking to solve complex problems. He has worked for over a decade in the waste industry and since founding Dsposal, has built a reputation in the UK waste sector as an innovator and leader in this field.
He joined Resource Futures in January 2025 on a six-month secondment as part of a formal partnership between Dsposal and Resource Futures. Tom, along with the rest of the Dsposal team, is supporting the innovation and evolution of the data intelligence services delivered by Resource Futures.
Expertise
Tom has led on the service design and data elements of a number of large projects, including as the lead data architect on the Open 3P data standard for packaging, as well as for clients like Defra, ReLondon and Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust.
The Waste Thesaurus Tom developed for Your Dsposal to help users correctly classify their waste is the largest freely available thesaurus of its kind with tens of thousands of users from almost every country on the planet. He also spent six months working on a national health and justice data project as the lead analyst reporting to the highest levels of government during the coronavirus pandemic. Tom is the lead data architect applying the structure and methodology of Open 3P to (W)EEE and batteries, textiles and fashion, and automotive. His expertise includes:
